DHL Global Forwarding has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hyperview Saudi to conduct a three-month Proof of Concept deploying hydrogen-powered trucks in Saudi Arabia. The pilot project, funded by DHL, will assess the HTO2.1 model's operational performance and sustainability benefits. With a focus on decarbonizing road freight and supporting Saudi Vision 2030, the initiative aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly. The hydrogen trucks feature advanced driving capabilities, eco-driving features, and a range of 450 kilometers per refill, targeting long-haul operations. The partnership also evaluates the feasibility of local hydrogen refueling infrastructure and gathers data to scale hydrogen adoption in logistics. The collaboration aligns with DHL Group's Sustainability Strategy for net-zero emissions logistics by 2050, emphasizing the importance of sustainable innovation in transportation. Through this pioneering effort in the Middle East, the project aims to demonstrate the commercial viability and environmental benefits of hydrogen-powered trucks, contributing to global decarbonization. This initiative signifies a strategic step in building the future logistics infrastructure, showcasing the Kingdom's role as a testbed for innovative solutions in line with Vision 2030.
