Emirates SkyCargo, in partnership with Allied Transport Company, is set to revolutionize its ground fleet operations by introducing hydrogen-powered trucks by early 2026. The move comes as part of the companies' joint commitment to reducing emissions and adopting sustainable practices. The new trucks will join Emirates SkyCargo's existing fleet of over 60 trucks, connecting Dubai World Central and Dubai International Airport, as well as the wider domestic region. By deploying five hydrogen-powered trucks, the airline aims to make significant strides in its transition to alternative fuel vehicles, ensuring no compromise on cargo capacity. These innovative hydrogen trucks, with a cargo capacity of up to 28 tonnes and a range of 700 kms, will be refuelled at two dedicated hydrogen stations in Dubai. This strategic move not only promotes eco-friendly transport but also supports the airline's goals of reducing its environmental impact and enhancing air quality. Both Emirates SkyCargo and Allied Transport Company view this initiative as a crucial step towards a cleaner and more sustainable logistics future in the UAE, particularly in Dubai. Badr Abbas, from Emirates SkyCargo, highlighted the importance of integrating hydrogen-powered trucks to reduce emissions without compromising service quality. Similarly, Mr. Ali Bin Beyat of Allied Transport Company expressed confidence in the potential of hydrogen-powered transport to significantly lower emissions, emphasizing the shift towards alternative fuels. This partnership underscores Emirates SkyCargo's ongoing commitment to sustainability, aligning with its Environmental Sustainability Framework. The airline's achievements, including the IEnvA certifications in 2023, reflect its dedication to implementing impactful environmental initiatives. By integrating hydrogen-powered trucks, both companies aim to not only meet customer needs efficiently but also contribute to a greener future in line with the UAE's vision for sustainability.
