Linde has entered a long-term agreement with Blue Point Number One, a joint venture involving CF Industries, JERA, and Mitsui & Co., to supply industrial gases to a massive low-carbon ammonia facility in Ascension Parish, Louisiana. The agreement involves Linde constructing a world-scale air separation unit (ASU) to supply oxygen and nitrogen to the 1.4 million metric tons ammonia plant. This investment of over $400 million is set to start operating in 2029, positioning it as one of the largest low-carbon ammonia projects globally. The partnership aims to establish a strong and cost-effective low-carbon ammonia value chain to cater to the increasing demand for ammonia as an energy source. Linde's significant presence in the U.S. Gulf Coast region will see the addition of the largest ASU in southeast Louisiana, enhancing its existing hydrogen and syngas infrastructure. Executives from both Linde and CF Industries expressed confidence in the partnership, highlighting Linde's expertise in clean energy projects and its history of successful developments in similar facilities. This collaboration marks another strategic investment by Linde in the U.S. Gulf Coast industrial gases sector, aligning with the region's growing demand for industrial gases.
