The collaboration aims to test the HTO2.1 truck model, designed for heavy-duty transport, over a three-month period to evaluate its performance, cost effectiveness, and environmental impact under real operating conditions. This initiative is a significant step in line with Saudi Vision 2030, emphasizing clean energy and innovation, and supports DHL's ambition to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 by exploring sustainable fuel solutions. The HTO2.1 truck, equipped with advanced sensors and intelligent driving technology, is capable of carrying up to 45 tons and traveling around 450 km on a single refill, while reducing energy consumption by 10% and emitting only water vapor if powered by green hydrogen.
The pilot program will be conducted in Jubail, a major industrial city in Saudi Arabia, to assess the truck's performance in challenging environmental conditions. With DHL's extensive fleet presence in the country, which includes over 700 rental trucks, the evaluation of hydrogen as a long-term fuel alternative is crucial for the future of sustainable logistics. Additionally, the pilot will serve to test the local hydrogen refueling infrastructure, essential for the widespread adoption of hydrogen-powered vehicles.
