In New Delhi, the road transport ministry has put forth a proposal to introduce a new type of registration plates for hydrogen-fuelled vehicles to give them a separate identity. This move aims to distinguish these vehicles from others on the road and promote the adoption of hydrogen as a fuel source for transportation. According to the draft notification, commercial vehicles using hydrogen fuel will have registration plates with a green top half and a blue bottom half, featuring yellow alphanumeric characters. On the other hand, private vehicles in this category will sport a similar color scheme but with white alphanumeric characters. Additionally, rent-a-cab vehicles operating on hydrogen fuel will be identified by registration plates with a black top half and blue bottom half, along with yellow alphanumeric characters. These unique registration plates not only provide a distinct identity to hydrogen-fuelled vehicles but also contribute to enhancing road safety by making them easily recognizable.
