Inpex Corporation, a Japanese energy firm, has received a production concession for Onshore Block 4 in Abu Dhabi, UAE, following successful exploration activities that revealed oil, condensate, and gas reserves. In Japan, Inpex has commenced commissioning work on an integrated blue hydrogen and ammonia production project in Kashiwazaki City, utilizing locally sourced natural gas and implementing carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology to reduce emissions. The generated hydrogen will be used for electricity generation in Niigata Prefecture, with excess hydrogen converted into ammonia for local consumption. Inpex's strategic focus on lower-carbon solutions by 2035 is evident in this project, supported by collaboration with organizations like NEDO and JOGMEC.
