The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy recently organized a national workshop in New Delhi focusing on the crucial role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India's green hydrogen sector. The event, attended by over 300 participants, aimed to explore how MSMEs can contribute to India's transition to cleaner energy. Union Minister Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi introduced the Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme during the workshop, highlighting the government's commitment to technology-driven growth and the significant potential of MSMEs in supporting the country's clean energy objectives. The event also featured discussions on key milestones achieved under the National Green Hydrogen Mission and the importance of capacity building and financial access for MSMEs to actively participate in the hydrogen economy. Notable discussions included insights on integrating small and medium enterprises into large-scale projects, showcasing decentralized methods for rural hydrogen generation, and proposing financial tools to mitigate investment risks for small businesses. The workshop emphasized the need for standardized practices, shared infrastructure, and the creation of Green Hydrogen Clusters to facilitate collaboration and scalability for MSMEs. It also highlighted the importance of clear market signals and consistent policies to drive private sector involvement. India's potential to become a prominent manufacturing center for green hydrogen equipment was acknowledged, aligning with the National Green Hydrogen Mission's vision of positioning India as a global leader in green hydrogen production, utilization, and export. The mission, expected to attract significant investments, create job opportunities, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, aims to establish a robust domestic green hydrogen industry by 2030, contributing to India's climate goals and sustainable development agenda.
