In New Delhi, Minister of State for New & Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik emphasized the pivotal role of Green Hydrogen in India's energy security and sustainable industrial growth. Speaking at the CII International Business Conclave, he called for industry investments in R&D, manufacturing, and skilled workforce development. The minister urged global partnerships to drive innovation and trade in the Green Hydrogen sector. Under the SIGHT initiative, India has issued tenders for large-scale Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia production, signaling the country's commitment to renewable energy. The plan includes establishing Green Hydrogen corridors for regional balance. Leveraging India's MSMEs and industrial clusters, Naik sees an opportunity for decentralized Green Hydrogen models to promote local demand and growth. ReNew Chairman Sumant Sinha highlighted the goal of scaling Green Hydrogen production to 40 million tonnes annually by 2070 for net zero targets. He stressed the need for subsidies, contracts, and policy reforms to address cost challenges. MNRE Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi outlined the ministry's focus on regulation, incentives, standards, and collaborations as key pillars for supporting the Green Hydrogen ecosystem. The conclave reaffirmed India's commitment to Green Hydrogen as a strategic pillar for energy transition, economic growth, and climate leadership, positioning the country for a sustainable future.
