Envision Energy has launched the Chifeng zero-carbon hydrogen-ammonia industrial park in Chifeng, China, which is positioned to become the world's largest producer of green hydrogen and ammonia. The project has initiated its Phase I with an estimated yearly production of 320,000 tons, with plans to ultimately scale up to an impressive 5 million tons annually. The operation, ahead of schedule, focuses on utilizing 1.43 gigawatts of wind and solar energy alongside storage capabilities to ensure off-grid electricity generation. By reducing CO₂ emissions by 9.12 million tons per year, the Chifeng project aligns with global agreements aiming to curb carbon footprints, like the Paris Agreement. Envision Energy's investment in the project has been substantial, with over $5.6 billion contributed by the Chifeng City government. The industrial hub not only produces green hydrogen and ammonia but also aims to decarbonize challenging sectors such as steel, chemicals, aviation, and shipping. Future phases of expansion are already in progress, with plans to double production by 2026-2027 and further increase capacity by 2028, including the production of green methanol and sustainable aviation fuel. This project is a significant step towards sustainable energy production and contributes to the growing development of green hydrogen and ammonia projects worldwide.
