Green Hydrogen Milestone: HDF Energy Expands in Indonesia with Strategic Agreements
Key Ideas
  • HDF Energy signed strategic agreements in Indonesia to boost the deployment of green hydrogen power plants, with significant investments and partnerships in place.
  • The agreements with PLN, PT SMI, and the East Nusa Tenggara Province aim to accelerate the development of 23 Renewstable® projects, supporting Indonesia's national roadmap for hydrogen and ammonia.
  • Renewstable® plants combine renewable sources with green hydrogen for stable power generation, promoting clean energy and reducing reliance on diesel fuel.
  • The partnerships signify a strong commitment to the global energy transition and demonstrate France's support for innovative hydrogen technologies in international markets.
HDF Energy, a French company specializing in green hydrogen solutions, has made significant strides in expanding its presence in Indonesia through the signing of two major agreements. These agreements, signed in the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, mark a significant milestone in the development of HDF Energy's Renewstable® green hydrogen power plants in Indonesia. The first agreement, a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Indonesia's national electricity operator PLN and the state-owned infrastructure financing company PT SMI, aims to support the development of 23 Renewstable® projects with a total investment of €2.3 billion. These projects align with Indonesia's national roadmap for hydrogen and ammonia, positioning hydrogen as a key element in the country's energy mix. Additionally, a second agreement was signed with the Provincial Government of East Nusa Tenggara to strengthen local cooperation and accelerate the deployment of Renewstable® projects in the region. HDF Energy's Renewstable® power plants integrate renewable energy sources with green hydrogen storage to ensure stable and clean power generation, reducing the reliance on diesel fuel power plants. The excess green hydrogen produced can also be utilized for decarbonizing regional maritime transport. These agreements not only bolster HDF Energy's presence in Indonesia but also contribute to the energy transition goals of the country by promoting the emergence of a local hydrogen ecosystem and reducing dependency on fossil fuels. The commitments made by both HDF Energy and its partners underscore the strategic importance of green hydrogen in advancing sustainable energy solutions globally, with strong support from France and Indonesia.
