Hygenco Green Energies has initiated the construction of a green ammonia plant in Gopalpur, Odisha, with the capacity to produce 1.1 million tonnes per annum in three phases. The plant's strategic location at the Gopalpur port hub will cater to both domestic and global demand, facilitating decarbonization across key industrial sectors. The project, led by CEO Amit Bansal, marks a significant milestone in India's green ammonia landscape and aims to position the country as a global leader in this sector. With the recent EU RED III pre-certification by Bureau Veritas, the project sets a new standard for internationally recognized green ammonia production. Partnering with Danish company Topsoe, known for carbon emission reduction technologies, will ensure efficient operations and optimized performance. Hygenco, headquartered in Gurgaon, plans to invest $2.5 billion to develop green hydrogen projects in India, with a target of deploying 10 GW of green hydrogen and ammonia assets by 2030. This aligns with India's net-zero ambitions, and Hygenco already has a strong portfolio of green hydrogen projects in collaboration with various companies across the country.
