Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, stated that India is willing to increase its energy imports from the United States to cater to the surging demand driven by rapid economic growth. The country's annual energy needs, amounting to USD 150 billion, have prompted the exploration of varied import sources, with a noticeable decrease in Russian oil imports. Despite the energy consumption surge, India is steadfast in its commitment to the Paris Agreement, showcasing advancements in biofuel blending at 20% and the expansion of green hydrogen initiatives. Minister Puri also expressed optimism about oil reserves in the Andaman Sea, with 200,000 square kilometres now open for exploration. The energy policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's governance remains focused on sustainability, with domestic fuel prices experiencing a decline.
