  • HDF Energy's Renewstable power plants combine renewable energy sources with green hydrogen storage to provide clean and stable electricity, particularly in remote areas.
  • The company aims to decarbonize Indonesia's maritime sector by producing green hydrogen locally, offering zero-emission propulsion solutions for maritime vessels.
French hydrogen company HDF Energy has strengthened its presence in Indonesia by signing strategic agreements to advance the deployment of its Renewstable hydrogen power plants in the country. The company entered into a tripartite memorandum of understanding with PT PLN (Persero) and PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) to develop innovative financing mechanisms for 23 hydrogen power plant projects in Indonesia, amounting to a total investment of €2.3 billion. Additionally, HDF Energy signed another MoU with the Provincial Government of East Nusa Tenggara to enhance local cooperation and expedite the implementation of their projects in the region. The Renewstable power plants created by HDF Energy integrate intermittent renewable energy sources such as solar and wind with on-site green hydrogen storage to generate consistent and clean electricity round the clock, offering a sustainable alternative to diesel power especially in remote islands. The company also highlighted that the surplus green hydrogen produced can be utilized for maritime decarbonization, supported by fuel cells produced in their Bordeaux-Blanquefort plant in France. Furthermore, HDF Energy's subsidiary in Indonesia, PT HDF Energy Indonesia, signed an MoU with the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, PT PLN (Persero), and PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) to explore green hydrogen applications in decarbonizing the maritime sector of Indonesia. The company aims to produce green hydrogen locally to provide zero-emission propulsion solutions for maritime vessels, contributing to environmental sustainability in the region.
