The Tasmanian Green Hydrogen Hub has set ambitious goals to produce 45,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen annually, which could potentially fuel more than 2,200 heavy vehicles each year. With a budget allocation of $64.8 million for strategic renewable energy projects in Tasmania over the next four years, the province is moving towards a sustainable energy future. Minister Nick Duigan announced the appointment of Bell Bay Power Fuels as the provisional proponent for the Hydrogen Hub, reflecting strong industry interest in establishing a hydrogen industry in Tasmania. The project is expected to create over 740 jobs directly and indirectly, benefiting professions such as energy engineers and technicians, as well as skilled trades like concreters, metalworkers, fitters, and electricians. This initiative not only aims to drive economic development but also to support the state's transition to a low-emission economy and enhance its reputation as a renewable energy leader. As part of the state's agenda to promote renewable energy, the Hydrogen Hub project is positioned to attract investments and drive future industries with clean fuels. Additionally, a $128 million renewable energy zones project was announced for New South Wales, indicating a growing momentum towards sustainable energy practices in Australia.
