Adani Group has launched India's first hydrogen-powered truck for mining logistics in Chhattisgarh, signifying a pivotal step towards sustainable industrial transportation. The vehicle, capable of transporting 40 tonnes over 200 kilometres, is part of Adani Enterprises Ltd's strategy to replace diesel vehicles in its logistics network. This initiative, in collaboration with domestic and international energy technology firms and an automobile manufacturer, showcases the group's commitment to cleaner energy. The hydrogen-powered truck, equipped with smart technology and three hydrogen storage tanks, will operate from the Gare Pelma III coal block to a state-run power plant. This deployment aligns with Chhattisgarh's focus on reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly industrial practices. Adani Enterprises' broader decarbonisation strategy includes integrating sustainable technologies like autonomous systems and solar energy at mining sites. The project, a joint effort between Adani Natural Resources and Adani New Industries Limited, emphasizes the advantages of hydrogen fuel cells in achieving comparable performance to diesel trucks while reducing noise and harmful emissions.
