Hazer Group Collaborates with EnergyPathways for Hydrogen Production Facility in the UK
Key Ideas
  • Australian company Hazer Group signs MOU with UK-based EnergyPathways to assess hydrogen production facility in northwest England, part of the MESH project.
  • The collaboration aims to produce 20,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually, evaluate ammonia and graphite production using Hazer's technology, and support industrial decarbonisation.
  • Hazer and EnergyPathways will move towards a binding agreement to conduct concept engineering studies to determine the feasibility and outputs of the proposed facility.
  • EnergyPathways sees the collaboration as a major step towards providing affordable, low-carbon energy in the UK, supporting decarbonisation efforts and the country's net-zero goals.
Australian technology company Hazer Group has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UK-based EnergyPathways to evaluate the development of a hydrogen production facility in northwest England. The proposed facility, integrated into EnergyPathways’ Marram Energy Storage Hub (MESH) project, aims to produce 20,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year. Additionally, the project will explore the potential production of ammonia and graphite utilizing Hazer’s methane pyrolysis technology. Hazer's CEO highlighted the increasing global interest in clean hydrogen pathways, emphasizing the importance of the collaboration in supporting industrial decarbonisation. The partnership will progress towards a binding agreement to conduct concept engineering studies to determine the feasibility and outputs of the facility, leveraging Hazer's strategic alliance with global engineering firm KBR. EnergyPathways views this collaboration as a significant step towards providing affordable, low-carbon energy in the UK, contributing to decarbonisation efforts and the country's net-zero goals. The project, located off the Lancashire coast, is poised to connect with the UK’s national electricity and gas grids, as well as the developing 'Project Union' hydrogen gas grid.
