L&T Energy GreenTech Ltd (LTEG), a subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, has announced plans to establish India's largest green hydrogen plant at Indian Oil Corporation's (IOCL) Panipat Refinery in Haryana. The plant, with a capacity to produce 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, will operate round the clock using renewable energy. This development is in line with the Government of India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and IOCL's strategy to decarbonize its operations. The green hydrogen will be supplied to IOCL for 25 years, further supporting India's net-zero ambitions. The plant will utilize high-pressure alkaline electrolyzers manufactured at L&T Electrolysers' facility in Gujarat. Subramaniam Sarma, Deputy Managing Director and President at L&T, expressed the company's commitment to lead India's energy transition through this project. The initiative also aims to deepen the partnership with IOCL and demonstrate L&T's capability to deliver clean energy solutions at scale. Derek Shah, Head of Green Manufacturing and Development at L&T, highlighted the end-to-end green energy capabilities of the project, emphasizing the deployment of cutting-edge technology and skilled teams. This project signifies a milestone in India's green hydrogen space, showcasing L&T's prowess in manufacturing electrolyzers and executing large-scale clean energy projects. By utilizing indigenous manufacturing for electrolysers, the project aligns with India's self-reliance goals and contributes to long-term decarbonization objectives.
