Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of Himachal Pradesh reiterated the state's environmental efforts at the 10th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog in New Delhi. He stressed the need for Himachal to receive a Green Bonus for its forest preservation initiatives and requested higher funds allocation to offset increasing development costs. Sukhu also advocated for a ban on Turkish apple imports and the expansion of Kangra airport. Emphasizing Himachal's role as the 'lungs of North India,' he highlighted the state's aim to become a green energy state by 2026, including the establishment of a 1 MW green hydrogen plant in Solan district in collaboration with Oil India Limited. The Chief Minister addressed the importance of royalty alignment with the state's Energy Policy and urged prompt release of pending funds to enhance self-reliance. Sukhu further outlined the state's vision to position Himachal as a premier tourist destination. His proactive stance towards environmental conservation, sustainable energy production, and economic development reflects a positive outlook for Himachal Pradesh's future.
