During the Rising North East Investors Summit 2025 in New Delhi, Union Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi highlighted the pivotal role of renewable energy in supporting the growth and development of India's North Eastern Region. He emphasized the vast untapped potential in the region, including large hydro and pumped storage projects, attributing its importance to India's green growth strategy. The Minister mentioned the strong private sector interest with numerous MoUs signed, aiming to create employment and spur development. Government initiatives like setting aside 10% of the annual scheme budget for the North East and offering enhanced financial assistance demonstrate the commitment to boost clean energy in the region. The focus on skill development through programs like Suryamitra and the establishment of renewable energy projects like the 20 MW solar park in Mizoram and the upcoming 25 MW green hydrogen plant in Assam underlines the region's preparedness for sustainable energy ventures. Shri Joshi also emphasized the North East's potential as an energy hub for exports and cross-border electricity trade, aligning with global trends towards green energy. Encouraging industry leaders to invest in the region, he assured full government support and highlighted the transformative impact of such investments for a cleaner and self-reliant India.
