Vice President Lucia Witbooi of Namibia has launched the Youth for Green Hydrogen Scholarship Programme, encouraging youth in the Hardap and //Kharas regions to apply. The initiative aims to empower young individuals by providing opportunities for them to acquire skills relevant to the green hydrogen sector. The programme, with N$25 million secured, focuses on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses. Witbooi emphasized the need for a diverse range of professions in the green hydrogen economy, including technicians, welders, electricians, plumbers, and safety inspectors. The Scholarship Programme targets Namibian youth aged 18 to 35 and offers training in key occupational areas such as Welding, Fitting, Solar Installation, Automotive Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, and Plumbing, covering fees, equipment, toolbox, and a stipend. The application period will be open from 7 to 18 July 2025, requiring applicants to meet certain qualification criteria. A regional outreach campaign will also be conducted to support potential applicants in the application process. Overall, the programme aims to equip the youth with the necessary skills to contribute effectively to Namibia's green industrial future.
