In a significant development, Sarawak in Malaysia is poised to host the final assembly of VoltAero's Cassio family of hybrid-electric aircraft through a collaboration involving French manufacturer VoltAero, SEDC Energy Sdn Bhd, and ACI Groupe. The agreement aims to establish an aircraft assembly facility and innovation center in Sarawak, emphasizing training for local technicians and engineers, alongside a pilot training academy with flight stimulators. Notably, the partnership also includes technology transfer, local supply chain establishment, maintenance capabilities, and joint efforts in hydrogen propulsion and sustainable aviation fuels. This initiative grants manufacturing and distribution rights for the Cassio aircraft in the Asia-Pacific region to the SEDC Energy-ACI Groupe joint venture, with plans for mobile charging solutions at regional airports and demonstration flights to raise awareness. The Cassio aircraft family, designed for various commercial and utility applications, will consist of models accommodating four to twelve passengers.
