Honeywell and NTPC Green have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in India. The partnership will explore using Honeywell's eFining™ technology to produce SAF from carbon dioxide feedstock captured from NTPC's power plants and green hydrogen. This initiative is part of NTPC Green's Green Hydrogen Hub project in Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh. The collaboration aims to assist airlines in meeting their carbon reduction targets, support India's energy security objectives, and align with Honeywell's focus on energy megatrends. DMR Panda, Executive Director of Green Hydrogen at NTPC Ltd., highlighted the importance of SAF production and the role it will play in driving projects related to green hydrogen adoption in the aviation sector. The joint effort between Honeywell UOP and NTPC will combine expertise in SAF production and green hydrogen projects development to help decarbonize the aviation sector. Ranjit Kulkarni, Vice President of Energy and Sustainability Solutions at Honeywell India, expressed excitement about advancing India's transition towards cleaner aviation fuels and achieving carbon neutrality. The study, set to be completed by mid-2025, will contribute to India's goal of becoming a hub for sustainable aviation fuel and exporting SAF to other regions, supporting the country's emissions reduction goals.
