Sarawak, Malaysia, is propelling itself as a key hydrogen hub in Asean with the development of a hydrogen certification platform aligned with global standards. Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg shared Sarawak's ambitious hydrogen vision at the World Hydrogen Asia 2025 event in Tokyo. The Sarawak Hydrogen Economy Roadmap is part of the broader Sustainability Blueprint 2030, aiming for a green, inclusive, and resilient future. Projects like H2biscus and H2ornbill with international collaborations are set to produce significant amounts of green hydrogen and derivatives. The state is strategically focusing on scaling up hydrogen hubs, domestic applications, securing international agreements, and developing purpose-built hydrogen plants for various uses. Notable achievements include supplying green hydrogen for transportation systems, rural healthcare, and powering multi-fuel stations. The Premier emphasized the importance of regional collaboration, shared infrastructure, and technology exchange for the success of the hydrogen economy in Asia. Sarawak's selection as the site for Malaysia's first Transitioning Industrial Cluster underlines its commitment to clean industrial transformation and green growth.
