Arctech Signs Deal for Solar Trackers in Oman's Green Ammonia Project
Key Ideas
  • Arctech partners with ACME Cleantech to supply 175 MWp of solar trackers for a green ammonia project in Duqm, Oman.
  • The project aims to produce 300 metric tonnes per day of green ammonia, integrating solar energy into hydrogen production at scale.
  • Duqm's strategic location with high solar radiation makes it ideal for large-scale photovoltaic projects, contributing to Oman's renewable energy goals.
  • ACME Cleantech's initiative aligns with Oman's vision to increase renewable energy generation to 35–39% by 2040, marking a significant step in energy diversification.
Arctech, a Chinese company specializing in solar tracking systems, has entered into a strategic partnership with Indian firm ACME Cleantech Solutions to supply 175 MWp of solar trackers for a green ammonia production project in Duqm, Oman. The deployment is set to begin from July 2025, with deliveries scheduled in phases. The project will utilize the Skyline II single-axis tracker system, designed to withstand the challenging environmental conditions in Duqm, including high wind speeds, corrosion exposure, and extreme temperatures. With an average annual solar radiation of approximately 5,764 kWh/m², Duqm is strategically positioned for large-scale photovoltaic ventures. This initiative represents one of the first efforts in the Gulf region to integrate solar energy into hydrogen production at a significant scale. ACME Cleantech, a key player in India's renewable energy sector, is leading the project alongside international technical partners. The green ammonia facility in Duqm is part of Oman's broader energy strategy, supported by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company aiming to increase renewable energy contribution to 35–39% by 2040. The project symbolizes a move towards energy diversification and infrastructure development in Duqm, a vital energy hub in the region. Vipin Aggarwal, Vice President of Procurement for Green Hydrogen and International Business at ACME Cleantech, expressed confidence in Arctech's tracking solutions to enhance the project's energy efficiency amidst challenging site conditions. The collaboration not only strengthens Arctech's footprint in the region but also highlights the company's involvement in large-scale projects worldwide.
