MyFarm Partners with Hiringa Energy to Build Green Hydrogen Solar Farms
Key Ideas
  • MyFarm secures a $14 million partnership with Hiringa Energy to develop up to five solar farms for green hydrogen production.
  • Hiringa Energy will purchase all energy from the solar farms to power its expanding network of green hydrogen stations and trucks.
  • The collaboration aims to provide investors with a 10-12% annual return through the MyFarm Solar Fund.
  • Smaller-sized solar farms with innovative construction techniques are set to accelerate the production of green hydrogen in New Zealand.
MyFarm has finalized a partnership with Hiringa Energy to raise $14 million for the development of up to five solar farms dedicated to the production of green hydrogen. Hiringa Energy, known for its green hydrogen initiatives, will purchase all the energy generated by these solar farms. The MyFarm Solar Fund will facilitate the financing and management of these projects, targeting an annual return of 10-12% for investors. These solar farms, with a total capacity of 25MW, aim to power Hiringa's growing network of green hydrogen stations and hydrogen-powered trucks. By converting solar-generated electricity into hydrogen, the energy can be stored for use when solar power is not available. MyFarm highlighted that these smaller-sized solar farms, coupled with innovative construction methods, will enable quicker development compared to larger grid-scale solar projects in New Zealand, thus contributing to the advancement of green hydrogen production in the country.
