Adani Enterprises, a prominent company in the Adani Group, has recently unveiled India's first hydrogen fuel cell-powered truck for mining logistics operations in Chhattisgarh's Raipur district. The truck's primary purpose is to transport coal from the Gare Pelma III Block to a state-run power plant in an eco-friendly manner. By introducing these hydrogen-powered trucks, Adani Group aims to gradually replace diesel vehicles used in their logistics processes, emphasizing sustainability and reducing carbon emissions. Each truck is equipped with advanced smart technology and three hydrogen storage tanks, enabling it to transport up to 40 tons of cargo over a range of 200 kilometers. This innovative project is part of a broader initiative led by the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Co. Ltd, which has selected Adani Enterprises as the Mine Developer and Operator (MDO) for the Gare Pelma III coal block. Adani Natural Resources (ANR) and Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL), subsidiaries of Adani Enterprises, are collaborating on this venture. ANR will supply hydrogen fuel cells sourced from ANIL, which is also involved in green hydrogen production, solar modules, wind turbines, and battery manufacturing. This introduction of India's first hydrogen-powered truck signifies a significant advancement in sustainable transportation within the mining industry and showcases a positive step towards reducing the environmental impact of coal transportation in the region.
