Key Ideas
  • NRL in Assam re-invites bids for a green hydrogen generation unit to supply gaseous green hydrogen for 25 years.
  • The project involves comprehensive scope of work including design, engineering, construction, and long-term operation.
  • Interested developers have until 23 June 2025 to submit bids for the 10,000 tons per annum capacity GHGU.
Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Assam, India, has re-invited bids for setting up and operating a green hydrogen generation unit (GHGU) at its refinery. The project, planned to be developed on a Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) basis, will supply gaseous green hydrogen (GGH) to NRL for a period of 25 years. The re-tendering process was initiated due to changes in the bill of quantities (BOQ) and adjustments to the original terms and conditions. The selected developer will be responsible for design, detailed engineering, construction, testing, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of the GHGU and supporting utilities. The GHGU will have an installed capacity of 10,000 tons per annum, and the successful bidder will need to enter into a Green Hydrogen Purchase Agreement (GHPA) with NRL for consistent supply over 25 years. Interested developers must submit their bids by 23 June 2025. This initiative by NRL aligns with its efforts to integrate green hydrogen into refining operations and support India's clean energy transition.
