Construction has begun on Project Roadrunner in Reeves County, Texas, which is set to become the largest e-fuels production plant globally upon completion. The facility, located near Pecos city, will annually produce 23,000 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF) along with other e-fuel products. Supported by investors such as Brookfield Asset Management and Breakthrough Energy Catalyst, the project has already secured commercial agreements with major airlines like American Airlines and International Airlines Group. These e-fuels are synthetic and produced using waste CO2 and renewable energy sources, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional petroleum-based fuels. The project is not only a key investment in Texas but also focuses on creating skilled job opportunities in construction, operations, and logistics. The facility will incorporate green hydrogen production and align with sustainability mandates like the UK SAF Mandate, showcasing a commitment to energy security and low-carbon innovation.
