Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power has entered into strategic agreements and MoUs with international partners to establish a green hydrogen and renewable energy export corridor between the Kingdom and Europe. The signing ceremony in Riyadh emphasized Saudi Arabia's pivotal role in the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). By forging new partnerships, Saudi Arabia aims to become a key player in the IMEC project, leveraging its strategic location to bridge East and West. These collaborations seek to create a full value chain for green hydrogen production, transportation, and export to European markets. The Yanbu Green Hydrogen Hub, part of this initiative, is set to start commercial operations by 2030 and will facilitate large-scale green hydrogen production near the Red Sea coast. This project aligns with Saudi Arabia's goal of diversifying its clean energy portfolio and transitioning away from hydrocarbons. The agreements with European stakeholders lay the foundation for a clean energy corridor that could aid in decarbonizing European industrial zones while advancing Saudi Arabia's renewable energy export strategy. The Yanbu project not only supports Saudi Arabia's clean energy ambitions but also contributes to its Vision 2030 objective of becoming a leading global logistics hub through investments in renewable infrastructure and sustainable trade routes.
