Plug Power Inc. has announced the successful operation of its GenEco electrolyzer systems at The Green Box, a cleantech innovation campus in the Netherlands. The site features 1 MW and 5 MW PEM electrolyzers that are actively supporting live demonstrations and workshops for European customers. This deployment is a significant step in demonstrating the flexibility and performance of Plug's electrolyzer systems in various industrial applications like refining, sustainable aviation fuel, and green ammonia production. The hydrogen production launch in May 2025 at The Green Box showcased the 5 MW GenEco system operating at full load and on specification, primarily powered by on-site solar energy. The integration of Plug's systems with local renewable power highlighted the economic benefits and potential for decarbonization. The Green Box's advanced energy infrastructure, including a 6 MW public grid connection and 10 kV network, supported Plug's deployment, emphasizing the importance of smart energy hubs for scaling technologies like electrolyzers.
