In a significant move towards sustainable logistics in India, Adani Enterprises has introduced the country's first hydrogen fuel cell truck in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. This pioneering initiative marks a shift from traditional diesel vehicles towards cleaner energy solutions in industrial operations. The hydrogen-powered truck, a collaboration between Adani Enterprises, a major Indian auto manufacturer, and a global energy technology firm, is designed to phase out diesel vehicles gradually, starting with the transportation of coal from the Gare Pelma III block to the Chhattisgarh State Power Plant. The truck, equipped with smart systems and three hydrogen tanks, boasts a 200-kilometer range capacity to transport up to 40 tonnes of cargo. The project's launch was officiated by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, emphasizing the state's dedication to embracing green technologies and reducing carbon emissions. Adani Group's CEO of Natural Resources, Dr. Vinay Prakash, highlighted the broader implications of the initiative, discussing the integration of technologies like autonomous dozer push, solar power, digital monitoring, and tree transplanters to foster sustainable mining practices and ensure environmentally conscious operations. The project involves collaboration between Adani Natural Resources and Adani New Industries Limited, aiming to revolutionize the mining sector by introducing green hydrogen production, solar modules, wind turbines, and battery systems. The adoption of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles not only reduces harmful emissions but also signifies a step towards decarbonizing heavy industry transport, thereby decreasing noise pollution and reducing India's reliance on imported crude oil.
