Adani Group, through its flagship company Adani Enterprises, has introduced India's first hydrogen-powered truck for mining logistics in Chhattisgarh. These trucks, which can carry 40 tonnes of cargo over a 200-kilometre range, aim to replace diesel vehicles in the company's logistics operations to promote cleaner transportation. The initiative involves collaboration with Indian and international energy technology firms and a major auto manufacturer to develop hydrogen fuel cell battery-operated trucks. Chhattisgarh's Chief Minister flagged off the first truck in Raipur, highlighting the state's commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon footprint. The project signifies Adani Group's dedication to decarbonisation and responsible mining practices, incorporating technologies like autonomous dozer push, solar power, and digital initiatives. The hydrogen-powered trucks emit only water vapour and warm air, contributing to lower emissions and noise compared to diesel trucks. This shift not only benefits the environment but also supports a reduction in India's oil imports. Adani Natural Resources, in collaboration with Adani New Industries Limited, is sourcing hydrogen cells for the project, emphasizing green hydrogen, wind turbines, and solar modules. The Group's focus on sustainable practices includes initiatives like Dozer Push Semi-Autonomous Technology to enhance safety and sustainability in mining operations. Overall, this initiative sets new standards in the industry, showcasing the importance of adopting innovative and eco-friendly practices in logistics and mining.
