The Indian Biogas Association (IBA) and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) have joined forces to boost India's bioenergy and bio-hydrogen sector. Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the collaboration aims to leverage synergies between the two organizations to develop and expand the bio-energy sector in the country. One of the key initiatives includes the establishment of a knowledge center to support mutual initiatives and allocate resources like technology and skilled workforce to drive growth in the biofuels industry. Additionally, the partnership will involve active engagement with stakeholders, including legislators, business executives, and industry players, to advocate for the development of the bioenergy sector. Capacity-building programs and training will be prioritized to bolster support for the biofuels industry. Gaurav Kedia, Chairman of IBA, highlighted the association's ongoing policy work with ministries to create supportive regulations for biogas, bio-CNG, and renewable energy sectors. The collaboration with IOCL will focus on proposing policy incentives and fostering industry-institute collaboration in biofuels research and development. IBA, as the first nationwide biogas association in India, plays a pivotal role in promoting greener alternatives through biogas and is working closely with the German Biogas Association to advance the biogas sector in the country.
