CaetanoBus, a Portuguese manufacturer, is gearing up to introduce a new line of zero-emission buses, with a right-hand drive 12m prototype expected in 2026. The range includes various models such as 8.5m, 12m, and 18m buses, with options for battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell-electric powertrains. These buses, named e.City Gold and H2.City Gold, incorporate components from CRRC and CATL, offering advanced energy storage solutions. The battery-electric examples boast up to 465kWh of storage, while the hydrogen variant features Toyota fuel cells with 130kWh energy storage. CaetanoBus highlights the buses' reliability and safety, achieved through rigorous testing and joint development efforts. The company's Chief Commercial Officer, Nuno Lage de Carvalho, emphasizes the innovation and sustainability of the buses, which cater to various transport needs with a common platform supporting both powertrain options. The existing models have already made an impact, with Transport for London operating over 40 battery-electric buses and a hydrogen demonstrator model from 2020. CaetanoBus aims to lead in e-mobility engineering, offering cutting-edge solutions for a greener future.
