Billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani is embarking on a green energy journey with Reliance Industries Ltd's (RIL) ambitious plans for sustainable energy production in India. The company is setting up five giga factories in Jamnagar, focusing on solar PV panels, fuel cells, green hydrogen, batteries, and power electronics. A massive solar manufacturing facility in Jamnagar, spanning over 5,000 acres, is targeting 10 GW of renewable energy output with advanced automation systems and the production of India's most powerful solar panel. RIL's green energy project also includes battery energy storage and green hydrogen production in Kutch, with a goal of generating 150 billion units of electricity annually. The solar modules are based on Heterojunction Technology (HJT) for enhanced efficiency, with plans for scalability up to 20 GW. Additionally, a 30 GWh battery manufacturing plant in Jamnagar is under construction to meet energy storage demands, alongside a multi-gigawatt electrolyser manufacturing facility for green hydrogen production by 2026. Mukesh Ambani emphasized the company's commitment to rapid expansion and innovation in the energy transition sector during the last annual general meeting.
