The Latrobe City Council and Baw Baw Latrobe Local Leaning and Employment Network (LLEN) organized an Aviation and Aerospace Careers Expo at Latrobe Regional Airport. Approximately 100 high school students attended the event in two sessions, where they received a tour of GippsAero and Helimed. The Expo featured interactive displays, career information, and participation from education institutions and aviation industries. Notably, universities like Swinburne University of Technology and RMIT University showcased innovative projects such as a hydrogen-powered drone and student-designed rockets and drones. Industry leaders, including Thales, Dovetail electric aviation, Jet Aviation, and Pilatus, demonstrated advanced technologies like an unmanned Aircraft Traffic Management system. Local organizations like the Latrobe Valley Aero Club and Gippsland Tech School provided insights into flight training, pilot licensing, and drone simulators. The Mayor of Latrobe City Council highlighted the importance of such events in attracting investment, creating job opportunities, and fostering partnerships between education providers and industry. The Mayor emphasized the growth potential of the aviation industry in the region and encouraged students to explore exciting career pathways without the need to leave Latrobe City. Overall, the Expo aimed to inspire and empower students to consider careers in aerospace, positioning Latrobe City as a thriving hub for future-focused industries.
