Honeywell has entered into an agreement with USA BioEnergy (USABE) to implement its Experion® PKS Distributed Control System (DCS) and safety system at the new Texas Renewable Fuels Bon Wier advanced biorefinery. This collaboration aims to convert wood waste into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to address the growing demand for eco-friendly fuel in the aviation industry. The Honeywell Experion® PKS system will play a vital role in optimizing the plant's central control and safety operations, enhancing performance, reliability, and safety standards. By integrating real-time data acquisition and monitoring capabilities, Honeywell's solutions are expected to significantly improve operational efficiency, leading to reduced airline emissions and more sustainable commercial flights. USA BioEnergy's CEO, Nick Andrews, emphasized the strategic importance of selecting Honeywell's systems to ensure operational efficiency and safety at their planned Bon Wier facility. The $2.8 billion greenfield plant in Bon Wier, Texas, aims to produce sustainable aviation fuel with the lowest carbon intensity score in the industry, catering to Southwest Airlines' increasing demand for SAF. Honeywell's President of Process Solutions, Pramesh Maheshwari, highlighted the company's commitment to a sustainable future and delivering cutting-edge solutions that drive efficiency through intelligent operations. In addition to the Experion® PKS system, Honeywell will implement the Experion Industrial Security system to secure the facility's telecommunications infrastructure and protect against cyber threats. With a focus on renewable fuels, including sustainable aviation fuel, Honeywell has been a key player in advancing eco-friendly solutions in the aviation sector.
