Five pioneering startups are set to showcase their cutting-edge technologies for the next generation of green energy at the GCV Symposium in London. Backed by SETsquared, these startups are tackling the challenge of reducing costs in alternative energy production. Avena Fuels, led by Mark Currass, is developing a decentralised sustainable aviation fuel refinery which promises significant cost reductions and accelerated production timelines. With an innovative 'refinery-in-a-box' model, Avena Fuels aims to be at full production capacity before 2030, supported by a 10-year contractual agreement with a global fuel purchaser. Latent Drive, founded in response to the pandemic, is focusing on green hydrogen production. The team, led by Frazer Ely, has engineered cost-effective catalysed electrodes and the SeaStack technology, designed to extract energy offshore from wind farms. By reducing the cost of green hydrogen production and optimizing energy supply, Latent Drive is making strides in the green energy sector. Another standout startup, Rhizo PTX, based in Guildford, Surrey, is also making waves in the green energy landscape. These startups are showcasing their advancements at the symposium, highlighting the potential for a future driven by sustainable energy solutions. The collaboration between universities and innovative startups underscores the commitment to a greener and more sustainable future.
