Shanghai's Push for Hydrogen Innovation in Energy Technology
Key Ideas
  • Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission announces funding for six key hydrogen energy projects, including SAF production and hydrogen-powered ships.
  • Projects cover a wide range of technologies from SAF production to hydrogen internal combustion engines for marine power systems.
  • Funding limits set for each project to encourage innovation in sustainable energy solutions.
  • The initiative highlights Shanghai's commitment to advancing hydrogen energy technology and reducing carbon emissions.
The Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission has introduced a funding program for six essential projects in hydrogen energy technology. These projects include developing key technologies for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production from carbon dioxide, electrocatalytic ammonia synthesis, high-performance membrane electrodes in proton exchange membrane (PEM) water electrolysis for hydrogen production, materials for anion exchange membrane (AEM) water electrolysis, and more. The program aims to support research and development in various aspects of hydrogen energy, such as fuel cells and marine power systems based on hydrogen internal combustion engines. Each project has a specific funding limit to encourage diverse innovations in the field. This initiative underscores Shanghai's dedication to fostering advancements in hydrogen energy technology for a cleaner and more sustainable future.
