The NYK Group has recently expanded its fleet by welcoming Green Future, the company's first methanol-fueled bulk carrier. This dual-fuel vessel, equipped to operate on both methanol and fuel oil, was delivered at the TSUNEISHI Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. factory in Japan. During the ceremony, the vessel was officially named by Yuko Tsutsui, a Managing Executive Officer at NYK. Green Future marks a significant milestone for NYK as it showcases the company's commitment to sustainability. By utilizing methanol, the vessel can contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, especially when bio and e-methanol, produced using renewable energy sources and captured carbon dioxide, are used. With environmental advantages and a focus on cleaner-burning fuels, Green Future is designed to make a positive impact in the shipping industry. The vessel's specifications include a length of 199.99 meters, a breadth of 32.25 meters, a cargo capacity of about 81,500 cubic meters, and a deadweight of 65,700 metric tons.
