Hyundai Motor is making strides towards advancing hydrogen fuel cell technology by announcing its plans to establish the first hydrogen fuel cell systems plant in South Korea. The company's labor union revealed that the plant is targeted to commence operations in 2028, situated in Ulsan, approximately 305 kilometers southeast of Seoul. This upcoming facility will mark Hyundai's second plant globally dedicated to hydrogen fuel cell systems. The proposed plant's construction is set to begin within the year at Hyundai's Ulsan manufacturing plant. The hydrogen fuel cell systems produced at this new facility are expected to be integrated into various vehicles, including the Nexo hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle, hydrogen-powered Elec City bus, and hydrogen trucks.
