Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin has announced the upcoming arrival of two units of hydrogen-powered autonomous rapid transit (ART) in Kuching early next year. These ART vehicles, ordered by the state government to enhance public transportation, are part of a larger plan that includes a total of 38 units being manufactured and shipped from China in stages to align with the development of the ART infrastructure. In addition to the ART vehicles, Kuching will also be introducing 55 hydrogen feeder buses to improve first-mile and last-mile connectivity within a 3km radius of each station. This initiative, known as the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS), aims to modernize and improve the city's transportation network. The move towards hydrogen-powered vehicles signifies a progressive step towards environmental sustainability and innovation in the public transportation sector in Kuching.
