TKIL Industries Pvt Ltd, in partnership with SoHHytec SA, has ventured into the green hydrogen sector to contribute to India's clean energy goals. Suresh Agasti, Head of Green Hydrogen at TKIL, emphasizes the company's commitment to clean technologies and circular economy through this move. The partnership with SoHHytec is exclusive for the Indian market, focusing on implementing artificial photosynthesis-based hydrogen production using solar energy. TKIL plans to localize the green hydrogen supply chain by manufacturing key components and utilizing solar technology integrated with electrolyzers for increased efficiency. With an initial investment exceeding Rs.100 crore, TKIL aims to start commercial activities by early 2026 after deploying pilot projects and infrastructure setup. The National Green Hydrogen Mission and government incentives support the green hydrogen initiatives, emphasizing the need for localization, clearer offtake guarantees, and reduced GST on components. Despite challenges like high capital costs and storage complexities, TKIL is optimistic about the potential for green hydrogen in India's industrial landscape. The company anticipates early adoption by segments like refineries and fertilizers and envisions hydrogen as an automotive fuel in the future, emphasizing the importance of technology localization and stable policies.
