A high-level Green Investment Dialogue is set to take place in Walvis Bay, Namibia, from 10 to 13 July, bringing together parliamentarians and energy leaders from six African countries. The event will shed light on the significance of green hydrogen in Africa's future energy and industrial landscape, with a focus on accelerating climate finance for Green Energy Zones and Corridors across the continent. Organised under the Parliamentarians for Climate Finance project and supported by the Green Climate Fund, the dialogue aims to facilitate discussions on how legislation, planning, and finance can drive the adoption of green hydrogen as a key component of sustainable energy systems and industrial value chains. Namibia, in particular, is highlighted as a leader in green industrialisation, showcasing projects like the first green hydrogen refuelling station and the world's first industrial-scale green iron production facility powered by renewable hydrogen. The event agenda includes sessions on climate finance instruments, green policy frameworks, and strategies to replicate Namibia's success in hydrogen energy in other countries. The dialogue will conclude with country-specific sessions to develop actionable strategies for legislative planning, project financing, and clean energy deployment, emphasizing the vital role of policymakers in creating enabling environments for sustainable development.
