Metacon has achieved a milestone by winning a contract to supply a 1 MW pressurized alkaline electrolysis plant to a prominent renewable energy company in Morocco, a significant player in wind power investment in Africa. This project involves installing the electrolysis system as a turnkey, containerized solution at the customer's site, with a total contract value of EUR 1,820,600. The pilot project is focused on advancing technology by directly coupling pressurized alkaline electrolyzers with wind turbines, showcasing the potential for future industrial-scale facilities for green hydrogen, e-fuels, and green ammonia in Morocco. The green hydrogen market in North Africa is on the rise, fueled by the expansion of renewable electricity capacity. The customer's strategy to become a leading green hydrogen producer in Morocco and beyond aligns with the installation of this pilot plant, which will produce hydrogen off-grid through connections to multiple wind turbines.
