HD Hyundai XiteSolution (HDX), a Hyundai subsidiary, has secured an order for 22 hydrogen fuel cell forklifts with a 3.5T payload capacity from the Korea Construction Equipment Technology Institute. These forklifts will be utilized in the national Demonstration-based Reliability Verification for Commercialization of Hydrogen Forklifts project at Korea Zinc's smelter in Onsan until March 2026. The project aims to establish the reliability, economic viability, and safety performance of hydrogen forklifts. Hyundai highlights the environmental benefits of hydrogen forklifts, emphasizing their zero carbon dioxide emissions during operation. The shift towards these eco-friendly forklifts is anticipated to save about 1.8T of carbon dioxide per day and 645T annually for the 22 units, equivalent to planting 95,000 pine trees. The global hydrogen forklift market is on a significant growth trajectory, with a projected increase from USD683.6 million in 2021 to USD7.439 billion by 2032, as per market research.
