Marubeni Corporation and Envision Energy have entered a significant long-term offtake agreement for green ammonia produced in Inner Mongolia, China. By leveraging Envision Energy's expertise in green hydrogen-ammonia solutions and Marubeni's global energy trade network, the collaboration aims to drive large-scale production and widespread adoption of green ammonia. Specifically for Japan, the partnership will accelerate the country's transition to a green economy, supporting its sustainability objectives. Envision Energy's Senior Vice President, Frank Yu, emphasized the significance of the partnership in advancing the role of hydrogen-ammonia in the global energy landscape. The agreement involves Marubeni off-taking green ammonia from Envision's Inner Mongolia plant on a long-term basis for distribution to its customers, marking Marubeni Group's first long-term offtake agreement for green ammonia. Green ammonia, known for its zero CO2 emissions in production, is set to play a crucial role as a chemical feedstock and energy source for decarbonization efforts. Envision Energy's upcoming green ammonia production in Inner Mongolia, starting with trial runs in 2024 and commercial operations from late 2025, is poised to be a significant step in establishing a large-scale green ammonia facility, with an initial capacity of 300,000 tons per year.
