Umoe Advanced Composites (UAC), a Norwegian gas storage specialist, has received special permit approval from the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to authorize its hydrogen transport trailers for the US market. This approval encompasses UAC's 350 bar multi-element gas containers that employ Type IV glass fibre composite vessels for high-pressure hydrogen storage and transport. Shawn Laughlin, President of Celly H2, a US partner of UAC, hailed the DOT's approval as a pivotal step in expediting hydrogen infrastructure development in the US. He emphasized that UAC's established success in Europe and Asia, coupled with this regulatory milestone, now provides US customers with a reliable and proven solution for distributing clean energy. Currently, UAC has three vessels for hydrogen, and the recent DOT approval allows all three trailers to be utilized in the US market.
