Transmission system operators Enagás (Spain), NaTran, and Teréga (France) have formed a joint venture to develop the BarMar renewable hydrogen pipeline connecting Barcelona, Spain, and Marseille, France, as part of the European H2med project. This initiative, following a joint development agreement signed in June 2024, accelerates the implementation of the EU's first clean hydrogen corridor. The shareholding structure reflects a 50% ownership by Enagás, 33.3% by NaTran, and 16.7% by Teréga, representing the balance between Spain and France. The project aims to cover 10% of Europe's hydrogen consumption by 2030. The CEOs of the involved companies expressed their commitment to deliver vital energy infrastructure for Europe and highlighted the focus on decarbonizing industries and regions. The H2Med project aims to interconnect hydrogen networks across Europe by 2030, providing affordable renewable hydrogen.
