Dutch company Hydrogen Chemistry Company (HyCC) has revealed its project H2Next, a significant electrolysis plant initiative in Rotterdam. The plant's objective is to produce 25,000 tons of green hydrogen annually, catering to various sectors in the Port of Rotterdam. HyCC has partnered with the Port of Rotterdam Authority and secured a strategic land plot on Maasvlakte, enhancing its connection to upcoming offshore wind farms. By utilizing renewable electricity from offshore sources, the project aims for stable supply and reduced reliance on traditional energy. Moreover, H2Next is envisioned to play a key role in industrial exports across Northwest Europe, leveraging the national hydrogen network and the Delta Rhine Corridor. The project is in the final stages of its feasibility study, targeting a significant investment decision by 2028 and commercial operations initiation by 2030. With an estimated electrolyser capacity of 75 megawatts, the site will be a crucial step in scaling up green hydrogen production within the Netherlands, aligning with the carbon-neutral focus. HyCC's CEO emphasized the project's contribution to large-scale hydrogen infrastructure development, setting the stage for industrial transformation and undisclosed financial investments.
